Americana burger chain Johnny Rockets announced that it is focusing its international expansion on Southeast Asia, with a specific focus on breaking ground in Thailand and Vietnam.
The chain currently has 14 restaurants in the region in countries including Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Another eight restaurants are currently under development.
"What we have found is that as the region's middle class booms, that population segment is looking for and willing to spend more on premium burger concepts," said James Walker, the chain's president of operations and development.
This isn't the chain's first push into Asia. Earlier this year, Johnny Rockets announced a 100-unit agreement for China and it is currently seeking partners in Hong Kong.
