Italian QSR Fazoli’s signed seven area development agreements in the second quarter of 2022, adding 22 new locations across the country to its rapidly growing pipeline. The agreements will result in openings in five existing states — Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas — in addition to the return of Fazoli’s in Nevada and Utah.

The chain previously reached a store unit peak of 400 locations back in 2004, a series of stumbles left the chain with declining sales in the early 2000s. Here, Fazoli’s recently retired CEO Carl T. Howard details how he worked to turn the chain around. Today, Fazoli’s has nearly 220 restaurants in 27 states.
