Nashville, Tenn.-based Back Yard Burgers debuted a new prototype in Charlotte, N.C., recently and has plans to expand using the updated building design going forward.

The chain brought a strong sense of a backyard ambience with the addition of pergolas with this iteration. An open kitchen gives guests a better view of the open-flame cooking and treats them to the sights and smells of staff cooking their burgers.

The more modern exterior package includes a mix of brick, wood and metal that showcases the new signage and flame logo.

The new location also features what the chain refers to as a more balanced approach to business, providing opportunities to meet customer needs for drive-thru, pick-up, delivery, outdoor dining and indoor dining. Carside order taking in the drive-thru and payment through tablets when higher volume occurs allows for the team to continue cooking burgers to order while serving guests more quickly.
