With 30 locations nationwide, dine-in theater concept Studio Movie Grill (SMG) is expanding globally with new locations recently opened in North Carolina, Florida and California as well as two new overseas locations in Saudi Arabia and South Africa.
Three existing theater locations in California, in Redlands, Monrovia and Downey, acquired in 2017, will reopen later this year as full-service SMG locations.
There are also plans for three new domestic units in 2019. A second Charlotte, N.C., location will open in March and offer a 47,000-square-foot theater with 13 screens. A third Florida unit, this one in Kissimmee on Margaritaville Boulevard, will offer 12 screens in 40,000 square feet. Finally, SMG’s seventh California location will open in Sacramento with 11 screens in 49,000 square feet.
Each new SMG location will feature the chain’s Prototype 2.0. Moviegoers can anticipate a more upscale ambience in a modern setting. The chain will offer its American Grill menu and a full-service bar at each new location.
