Four new restaurants — Cal Mare, FARMHOUSE, Yardbird and Eggslut — will become part of the Beverly Center in Los Angeles’s new culinary lineup as part of the shopping center’s $500 million reimage.
The restaurants will be located on street level and are expected to open by the end of 2018. The mix of restaurants offers a variety of cuisine and price points for shoppers and continues the push in retail centers to provide more dining options.
Cal Mare by Chef Michael Mina will be a brand new 8,200-square-foot full-service concept from the James Beard Award-winning, Michelin-starred chef. It will feature coastal Italian cuisine with Mediterranean and Californian influences. The restaurant’s design will evoke the seaside elegance of Italy’s Amalfi Coast with a nod to its contemporary Southern California setting, according to a release announcing the updated lineup.
Mina’s contribution to the shopping center’s reimage also includes a previously announced chef-driven food court project called The Street. Located on level 8, it will feature 15 to 18 food stalls.
FARMHOUSE, a full-service restaurant by Chef Laurent Halasz, will focus on a curated menu that will highlight four to six key fresh ingredients per season. The 7,000-square-foot space will be reminiscent of a modern California farmhouse with a relaxed ambience, fireplace, open kitchen and large bar.
Full-service restaurant Yardbird Southern Table & Bar by Chef John Kunkel will be a 6,000-square-foot modern take on southern comfort foods. The Los Angeles outpost will be the third for the concept. The original location was recognized as a semifinalist for “Best New Restaurant” by the James Beard Foundation in 2012 and was named among “America’s Best New Restaurants” by Bon Appétit.
Finally, fast-Casual concept Eggslut, founded in 2011 as an L.A.-based food truck, balances comfort and innovation in eggs.
Each new restaurant at Beverly Center will be accessible by pedestrians at the street level but will also have plenty of nearby parking and valet service. The Beverly Center is owned by Taubman Centers.
