Tour the Design Trends

On Monday, June 11, 2018, restaurant development + design magazine took an elite group of readers on a behind-the-scenes tour of some of the hottest — and most beautiful — new restaurants in Chicago.

We met at the new International Interior Design Association's headquarters in Chicago to reveal the list of restaurants. Then we embarked on a trolley tour where guests will met the people behind the concepts and enjoyed complimentary food and beverages at each stop. Check out the images and descriptions of each location from 2018 below and from 2017 and 2016 in the Archives tab.

Designed by Gensler, the new International Interior Design Association (IIDA) headquarters offers an environment that supports its goals: providing headquarters staff with a workplace that encourages well-being and productivity in a space that helps connect members to one another.

With a mix of full-service and grab-and-go locations, Lettuce Entertain You’s latest Beatrix Market location, which opened at DePaul University’s Loop campus in April, leads the charge to meet the all-day desires of today’s
convenience- and quality-driven consumers.

The first new concept from Gibsons Restaurant Group in more than a decade, Gibsons Italia, is the iconic Chicago chain’s take on modernizing the traditional steakhouse.

From the bright bar to the channel-backed brown leather booths in the dining room, Proxi manages to be modern, sophisticated and comfortable all at once.

With consumers increasingly looking to spend money on experiences rather than on objects, immersive and “eatertainment” venues have cropped up to meet demand.
