California Pizza Kitchen opened its first restaurant in Australia at the landmark Hillarys Boat Harbour in Perth. Operated by franchisee California Pizza Kitchen Australia, the 370-seat, 9,500-square-foot restaurant is the world’s largest CPK and the first of three new restaurants planned for the area following recent openings in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, UAE and Mexico.

As part of the $120 million Terminal C redevelopment project at Newark Liberty International Airport, OTG and United Airlines have opened DAILY, a “farm to terminal” restaurant where, each day, chefs adjust the seasonal menu to incorporate the freshest market selections of produce, meats and fish sourced locally and often found at nearby farm markets.

Lowlands Group, the Milwaukee-based owner and operator of seven European-inspired cafes, has opened two new Café Hollanders restaurants in Wisconsin, one in Mequon and one in Madison.

As more fine-dining chefs look for alternative revenue streams to offset narrowing profits, they’re exploring casual concepts. Partners Tony Priolo and Ciro Longobardo of Piccolo Sogno in Chicago have become part of this group with the opening of Nonnina, a new full-service Italian restaurant featuring homemade pastas helmed by Executive Chef/Partner Chris Macchia, and the adjacent Nonnina To Go, offering grab-and-go counter service for quick weekday lunch or dinners.
