Boston’s COJE Management Group, known for Yvonne’s and Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar among others, opened Mr. H, a modern Chinese restaurant and Shanghainese cocktail lounge in the city’s Seaport neighborhood. The splashy and dramatic space also offers a dedicated kitchen window for those seeking elevated Chinese takeout.

Mr. H is the first COJE project where the internal design team, led by CEO and founder Chris Jamison, partnered with an outside design firm, in this case New York City-based Rockwell Group.

Hundreds of tea boxes surround the hand-painted host stand before guests make their way to the various zones and rooms. Key design elements include a majestic brass dragon in the 28-seat Dumpling Lounge, a hand-painted dragon mural behind the six-seat Dumpling Bar, a 24-karat gold leaf ceiling in the 68-seat main dining room, and AI-generated custom wallpaper in the restroom. A color pallet of plush and vibrant reds, deep greens and brass finishes adorns the entire space.
