Jaguar Bolera
Raleigh, N.C.
FAM Design worked with entrepreneur Robert Thompson, founder of Punch Bowl Social, to create Jaguar Bolera. The 21,000-square-foot concept offers a restaurant with southern and Mexican menu items alongside duckpin bowling, foosball, darts, private karaoke rooms and three pour-your-own beverage walls with 73 self-pour taps. One unique spin on the eatertainment experience is the addition of a “makertainment” area for DIY endeavors such as macrame, needlepoint, hand tooling and more.
The design is informed by a fictional muse, developed by the design team. The muse is a woman from the 1950s who is artistic, independent and fashionable, and Jaguar Bolero is her home. Every design detail is a nod to her. At the entrance, a custom host stand features a collection of backlit, vintage brooches and a tortoise shell framed mirror. The muse’s love of jewelry is represented through design details such as pearl necklace light fixtures, brooch-style wall sconces and touches of metallic gold.
Curved walls, ceilings and details throughout the space play up the femininity of the concept. Woven rattan and garden-basket-style light fixtures are used throughout. Upholstery fabrics are inspired by highly patterned and intensely colored womenswear, including plaid, velvets, hot pink tweed, gingham, floral prints and polka dots. Flowers are celebrated on many surfaces, including wallcoverings, custom light fixtures, restroom wall sconces, custom designed barstools, sofa upholstery and graphic motifs.
Bravo Top Chef contestant Manny Barella serves as culinary director.
