Domino's entered the Italian market with the opening of a franchised location in Milan. Franchisee ePizza S.p.A. plans to open three more stores in the city by the end of the year.
Domino's now operates more than 12,100 stores throughout 80 markets around the globe.
The Milan restaurants will aim to source all of its ingredients locally, including cheeses like Grana Padano and buffalo mozzarella as well as prosciutto di parma, tomato sauce and even the wheat for the dough, said Alessandro Lazzaroni of ePizza S.p.A. in a company release. The menu will include classic Margherita pizza as well as Neapolitan- and Sicilian-style pies and Italian desserts like Tiramisu.
Lazzaroni, a former marketing manager for McDonald's, has also served as commercial retail director for Italian bakery Galbuser.
