While permitting and attendant timelines often vary by municipality, 67% of rd+d readers surveyed in April said the permitting process is taking longer than it did before the pandemic hit in 2020. This number is up from 62% when we last fielded this question in June 2021.
Just 2% said the permitting process is shorter than it was before the pandemic hit the U.S. Last June, 7% of readers said the permitting process was taking less time than before the pandemic.
Another 31% said that the permitting process is taking the same about of time as it did prior to the pandemic.
rd+d’s ongoing research project periodically surveys qualified subscribers on the state of restaurant development and design. This survey was fielded in April 2022.
