The better-burger chain BurgerFi plans to expand in Florida and Georgia with nine new locations.

The chain projects it will open a total of 25 to 30 restaurants in 2019.

Restaurant industry veteran Nick Quarantillo will open three locations in the Clearwater-St. Petersburg, Fla. market.

Longtime friends Greg Gatto and Scott Hodes of The Burger Bunch LLC will open the first BurgerFi in Martin County in Stuart, Fla. The duo chose Stuart due to the coastal community’s mix of residential and high-traffic areas.

Dhruv Patel and his three partners in SAINI, LLC plan to open five locations in the Atlanta market. The group likes the Atlanta market because they feel the major city is a hot spot for Millennials, a key target demographic for the chain.

BurgerFi’s commitment to younger diners also has a tech focus. For example, BurgerFi continues to implement new technologies in store such as facial recognition kiosks.

BurgerFi was established in 2011 and has more than 100 restaurants.
