Maryland-based California Tortilla, a Mexican-inspired fast-casual franchise, is expanding its footprint and will open in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kansas and Georgia in 2019.

The chain currently has 42 locations across the mid-Atlantic region and expects to add 8 units by the end of the year. New franchise agreements will lead to expansion with a planned three restaurants in Kansas, five restaurants in Georgia, five restaurants in Virginia, one restaurant in North Carolina and one restaurant in Tennessee.

Founded in 2002, California Tortilla serves burritos, bowls, street tacos, quesadillas and salads. Every location features a Wall-of-Flame, a towering display of 75 distinct hot sauces, ranging from mild to tongue-melting, allowing guests to further customize the flavor and heat level of their meal.
