Ann Arbor, Mich.-based Domino’s Pizza opened its first store in Bangladesh, in the nation’s capital of Dhaka. Additional locations are planned for later this year.

Domino’s worked with master franchisee Jubilant FoodWorks Limited and local operator Golden Harvest Group to open the new restaurant, which is located in the Dhanmondi area of Dhaka. The unit features the chain’s pizza theater design, allowing patrons a front-row seat to watch the action of pizza-making.

“The open kitchen design will be innovative in this market and will show our commitment to food safety and quality standards,” says Rajeeb Samdani, managing director of Golden Harvest Group. Another innovation in the Bangladesh market is the ability to order pizza from the chain’s app. Domino’s is among the first brands to launch that offering in the region, according to Pratik Pota, chief executive officer and director of Jubilant FoodWorks Limited.

Domino's operates in more than 85 markets worldwide, with more than half of its global retail sales coming from international stores.
