The latest restaurant from Day Off Group and Chef Joe Flamm, Il Carciofo offers up modern Roman fare including pizza, hand-rolled pasta and more in Chicago’s Fulton Market neighborhood. Flamm, winner of Bravo’s Top Chef season 15, opened his first restaurant, Rose Mary, in 2021 and became Day Off Group’s culinary director in 2022.
Aria Group worked with Day Off Group to design a restaurant where the food is the star. A large open kitchen runs parallel to the dining room, allowing patrons to observe the kitchen at work. Seating at the Chef’s Counter gives guests a front-row view as pizzas are fired. Pasta and wine are showcased in a dedicated Pasta Lab visible from the dining room.
Design details and materials juxtapose Fulton Market’s industrial past and Rome’s storied heritage with layers of dark woods, plush fabrics, handmade tiles, natural stone and rich hues.
The dining room features expansive retractable windows that spill out onto what will be a massive patio in the warmer months of the year.
