Adding grab-and-go retail sales areas to restaurants has become increasingly popular but it’s not a must-have — at least not yet. In a pulse survey fielded in June, restaurant development + design readers were fairly split on whether they are adding them to their projects, with 49% saying they were and 51% saying they were not.

“You’re seeing grab-and-go everywhere, from corporate campuses to K-12 schools, to hotels, restaurants and even retirement homes,” said Jeremy Kittelson, director, Ricca Design Associates, Denver.

Grab-and-go has increased in popularity because it can be a revenue driver with low labor costs. It’s also convenient for customers. Knowing when and where to add it can be challenging. Check out How to Grow with Grab and Go and Designing for Grab and Go for more.
