In a pulse survey fielded in December just 13% of restaurant development + design readers said they were not including mobile or takeout areas in their current restaurant designs.

As for the remainder, 33% of survey respondents said they were including pickup shelving or similar storage areas in their restaurant designs. Another 24% said they were including separate entrances or exits for takeout patrons and third-party delivery drivers. 18% said that they were designing larger bar or hostess areas to accommodate more takeout orders. And, finally, 12% said they were adding or enhancing their drive-thru designs with mobile ordering in mind.
