Designed by Studio PIM in collaboration with EPL Streetfood, Java in Lisbon, Portugal, is a rooftop restaurant and cafe. Java’s wraparound terrace offers guests views of Ribeiro Market and across the Tagus River.
An edge of rippling cactus is planted around the restaurant, offering a contrast to the smooth walnut clad walls. Contemporary terracotta tiles clad the bar’s front, a nod to the surrounding rooftops. Local artisans supplied most of the furniture and fittings, providing a touchpoint to the community and its creatives.
Oversize horseshoe booths upholstered in rich blue velvet create a luxurious and inviting space for guests. The curve of the booths carries throughout the restaurant in a variety of ways, from the backs of chairs to the window highlighting the open kitchen.
Green glass jar light fittings complement the foliage on the outside terrace and create the romantic ambience of a hidden garden.
