Sustainability of the entire life cycle of an object, its functionality and reusability, and easily recyclable materials. These are the macro trends of design in hospitality. These are the trends that will be on display at the upcoming edition of HostMilano, the leading international trade fair for HoReCa and retail, Oct. 13-17 at fieraMilano Rho.
Innovation is the leading theme, in all the sectors in the comprehensive world of hospitality, from coffee, catering, pastry and ice cream machine technologies – IoT and Artificial Intelligence in the foreground – to the most cutting-edge furniture and contract concepts, tableware and new bakery.
Speaking of innovation, all eyes are on Smart Label - Host Innovation Award, the award event promoted by HostMilano and Fiera Milano in partnership with POLI.design and sponsored by ADI – Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (Industrial Design Association). The awards point out the products and solutions of exhibiting companies that stand out for functionality, technologies, environmental sustainability, ethics or social impact in three categories: Smart Label for characterizing innovative content, Innovation Smart Label for innovation that exceeds established trends, and Green Smart Label for eco-sustainability features.
As Markus Orthey, Design Director of DeLonghi Braun Household and member of the jury, explains: “Today’s consumers and customers demand intuitive, usable solutions that address specific usage problems and do more with fewer resources. For me, Smart Label is just that: a unique opportunity to catch trends in the future of design. Therefore, our commitment will be to reward products and solutions that bring about real change.”
It is a future world that will be addressed at the highest level by Design Talks, the refresher seminars dedicated to architects and experts in the field in collaboration with the Milan Roll of Architects PPC.
