We have a lot of exciting things going on at restaurant development + design this fall, beginning with the installation of Rebecca Kilbreath as the new editor in chief. Rebecca is no stranger to rd+d. She has been involved in a variety of capacities — contributing editor, web editor and social media maven — since we launched in 2012, but with this latest move, she will have the opportunity to offer her insight and direction to this emerging voice in the world of restaurant design.

Under normal conditions, a sweet announcement like this comes with the bitterness of having to say good-bye to someone else — but not so in this rare instance. Dana Tanyeri and her husband have reached a joyful spot in their lives that calls for more travel and less desk. As a result, while Rebecca takes on the mantle and the day-to-day responsibilities associated with being the editor in chief, Dana remains engaged as senior contributing editor of the magazine that she has done so much to help create.

Funny, the way things work out sometimes. For her part, Rebecca brings seven years of experience as a writer and editor in the fields of real estate and construction prior to joining Zoomba Group. Couple this experience with her effervescent personality and insatiable curiosity, and rd+d is in very capable hands.

Also, this September is our first-ever Foodservice Equipment and Design (FED) Global Thought Leadership Summit in Chicago! We’re dubbing it FED Talks due to the short, thoughtful presentations that are planned. It seems like we’ve been talking about this for more than our allotted fifteen to eighteen minutes, so we are quite pleased that it’s finally here. Check it out online at and on our social media feeds.

If you’re reading this before October 10, we are still accepting submissions for our first-ever rd+d awards, recognizing excellence and innovation in creative restaurant design and development. If you have been involved in a project that you think is great, we want to make sure that you and your team get the recognition that you deserve.

All the Best,
