Ruby Slipper will re-open its flagship restaurant five years after a construction collapse closed the store.

Ten years after its original opening – and five years after the tragic Hard Rock Hotel construction collapse closed the store – the Canal Street Ruby Slipper will reopen its doors. The renovated French Quarter location will now serve as the brand’s new flagship restaurant.

“As we eagerly anticipate the reopening of our Canal Street restaurant, we find ourselves reflecting on the journey that brought us to this moment,” says Co-founder Jennifer Weishaupt. “We’re honored to be part of the broader redevelopment of this historic building. Our dedication to this location goes beyond business; it’s a genuine reinvestment in the spirit of New Orleans.”

Tying the new location to Ruby Slipper’s history, the bar top is originally from the brand’s Mid-City location. Also on display will be four large-scale black-and-white photos showcasing the buildings’ history.

Additionally, Ruby Slipper has partnered with Cafe Reconcile, a nonprofit workforce training program that prepares young adults for careers in New Orleans’ hospitality industry.

This store will be Ruby Slipper’s 8th location in New Orleans, 9th in the state and 25th systemwide.
