In mid-January, better-burger fast-casual concept Fatburger and its sister brand, Buffalo’s Express, opened a new co-branded location in Barstow, Calif. The 3,800-square-foot location offers guests access to specialties from both concepts in a single platform.
Fatburger specializes in custom-built burgers in a variety of size options, as well as fries, hand-battered onion rings and hand-scooped milkshakes. At Buffalo’s Express, a limited-menu offshoot of the casual-dining Buffalo’s Café chain, signatures include chicken wings with a variety of sauces, including Honey Garlic, Coconut Jerk and Carolina Fire BBQ, with spices ranging from “mild to Death Valley.”
Fatburger, owned by Fog Cutter Capital Group, acquired Buffalo’s Café in 2011 and opened its first co-branded unit in Los Angeles in December 2012. In addition, following the acquisition the burger chain added new menu selections featuring signature sauces from the Buffalo’s line-up in all Fatburger units. Combined, the two concepts operate more than 200 units globally, 17 of which are co-branded.
