Improving what you have has been a big trend for restaurant operators so far in 2024, per a restaurant design + development reader pulse survey fielded in August.
Remodeling interiors is the area where 31% of survey respondents said they saw the greatest operator investment so far this year. Another 20% called out updates to the back of the house as the greatest area of operator investment this year.
Upgrading and/or improving outdoor dining areas was a hit with 16% of survey respondents. And 12% said improving technological infrastructure was where they’d seen the greatest operator investment so far in 2024.
Just 8% said upgrading in tools to improve the off-premises experience was big with operators. And just 6% said upgrading or adding drive-thrus was a focus in 2024.
