Boston-based Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group (SWRG), a collection of boutique American steakhouses, plans to expand its brand internationally.
The company plans to open a unit in central London in early 2015, its first venture into international territory.
Located on the ground floor of the Adelphi building on John Adams Street, the London restaurant will feature 300 seats in 15,000 square feet. The two floors will include two full dining bars, two main dining areas and several private event rooms. The scratch kitchen will outfit a full butcher shop and dry-aging room on-site, a signature feature of the Smith & Wollensky brand.
Design-wise, the new restaurant will mirror the classic green and white Smith & Wollensky brand. The company notes it will feature traditional decor elements while integrating the unique style of the building, complementing the European capital's rich history. London-based Martin Brudinzki Design Studio and Acacia Consulting are leading the design and construction efforts.
Founded in 1977, Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group owns and operates nine Smith & Wollensky steakhouse locations, two in Boston and one each in Miami Beach; Chicago; Philadelphia; Columbus, Ohio; Houston; Las Vegas; and Washington, D.C.
