Connecticut-based fast-casual Wayback Burgers opened its first location in Casablanca, Morocco. It is the first of eight planned restaurants in the country.
Owners Youssef Elmrani and Moutie Benhamza expect to have three stores operating in the west region by the end of 2019, and an anticipate opening two to three more annually. Each of the stores will open with Wayback Burgers’ new design, meant to appeal to a broad mix of generations, that has has a blend of modern and retro touches the chain calls “classic cool.”
Founded in 1991, Wayback Burgers has 142 locations across 28 states as well as Argentina, Brunei, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.
