The first IHOP opened in India in June. It is the first of 20 planned restaurants to open in Northern and Southern India in the next decade.
The menu for this and other planned India IHOP restaurants will include the American favorites the brand is known for as well as numerous modifications to appeal to local palates and dietary preferences. For example, 50 percent of the menu will be vegetarian, the pancakes will be prepared without eggs, and lamb will be added to the menu.
As for the design, key elements of the brand’s California Heritage prototype will be retained, including the pancake station, an open kitchen and a fresh juice bar, but other elements will be tweaked but will remain in line with the brand’s “spreading happiness since 1958” positioning.
