The newly redesigned Terazza Aperol, which overlooks the iconic Piazza Duomo, is a playful extension of the Aperol liquor brand and an intentional connection to the city and the busy piazza below. After designing the first Aperol venue in Venice in 2021, Vudafieri-Saverino Partners sought to create a space that transports guests into the Aperol world, where a premium is placed on socializing and conviviality.

The bar is the central element of the project and is made of 3D-printed corrugated recycled polycarbonate colored orange like the Aperol aperitif. The polycarbonate conveys a message of sustainability and innovation but did present some challenges as it can lose its shape if not properly manufactured and installed. That same material is repeated in different shapes and sizes throughout the space.

A herringbone design around the bar is a tribute to Milan’s palazzos. On the wall next to the bar, a series of images designed by Vahram Muratyan rework landmarks of Milan. With their bright colors and stylized shapes, each emphasizes the storytelling that is part of Aperol's brand. An opposing wall is clad in pale hammered gold and together the colors recall those of both the aperitif and the sunset.

The designers worked with reflective surfaces to amplify the light and to create a dialogue with the outside.

A panoramic terrace offers views of the square. Colors on the terrace are muted so as not to compete with the stunning architecture and to ensure guests feel part of both the bar and the city itself.
