With the world in the midst of an artificial intelligence (AI) revolution, rd+d asked readers to weigh in on how they use AI in their work. Most are not — yet, at least — as 65% of readers said they do not use AI at all in terms of ideation or execution on their current projects.

An additional 31% said they are using AI but they are just starting to incorporate it.

For the 4% of rd+d readers who said they were using AI in their projects, it was largely to help with ideation. One respondent said, AI allowed them to develop a vision quickly for their projects: “We use this as a tool like we do with Pinterest.” Another reader noted that the only thing artificial about AI is the idea that it saves them time.

rd+d periodically surveys subscribers on the state of restaurant development and design. This survey was fielded in February 2024. Subscribe to The Pulse to get rd+d’s surveys and results delivered to your inbox six times a year.
