An overwhelming 75% of restaurant development + design readers surveyed that building sustainably is somewhat (37%) or very important (38%) in their new builds and renovation projects.
An additional 15% of readers surveyed said sustainability in new builds and renovations were only important if there was a clear return on investment. The final 10% said sustainability was not important to their projects.
Sustainable building practices being important to new builds and renovations is particularly important as the World Green Building Council estimates that approximately 40% of worldwide carbon emissions are due to the construction of buildings and the energy needed to run them.
