Designed by Studio UNLTD, Callie opened in San Diego in June 2021. A relaxed, coastal palette plays with tradition and irreverence in this Mediterranean-meets-California-inspired space.

Inspired by Chef Travis Swikard’s own interests, surf and skate references are peppered throughout the space. For example, a “breaking wave” constructed in raw glulam beams is suspended over the bar, and a plush yellow “rail” backrest meant to reflect a Southern California skate park sits above concrete gray banquettes.

The European oak floors, rust-colored booths and warm lighting leave guests in a space that provides a suspended golden hour, capturing the feeling of sunset for their entire visit. The dining room is surrounded on three sides with a floor-to-ceiling wine room, a private dining room and a chef’s show kitchen.
