Dallas-based Legendary Restaurant Brands (LRB) continues to ramp up the
reintroduction of its casual-dining brands Bennigan's and Steak and Ale. In early April the company announced an exclusive master development agreement with Narender Taneja, franchise owner of a recently remodeled Bennigan's in Santa Clara, Calif., to bring up to 100 new restaurants to the state.

"This is a major milestone for Bennigan's and Steak and Ale," said Paul Mangiamele, chairman and CEO of LRB. "Narender is an outstanding operator and business partner who shares our vision for the Bennigan's of the future. Clearly, California is a critical market for global brands like ours."

Taneja recently finalized agreements to bring two new Bennigan's to
Fremont and San Jose by the end of this year. As part of the 100-store agreement, he has also secured the rights to sub-franchise the brands to approved operators within California. He will also develop the fast-casual "Bennigan's on the Fly" concept, designed for nontraditional locations.
