In a pulse survey fielded in April 2024, 35% of restaurant development + design readers said interior renovations and additions were the areas where they’d seen the greatest operator investment in existing units so far in 2024.
Upgrading outdoor dining and patio areas came in second with 22% of readers noting that was where they’d seen the greatest area of operator investment in 2024. Technology investment and upgrades topped the list for 19% of readers. Another 17% of readers noted that they’d seen the greatest amount of investment in drive-thru areas.
A final 7% of readers said “other areas” had dominated investment dollars so far in 2024.
