Following the path of other chain restaurants that are expanding by adding units in non-traditional locations, bakery-café concept la Madeleine Country French Café opened its latest restaurant at the University of Kentucky in Lexington last month.
The café, located within "The 90," the university's new 82,000-square-foot student dining facility, came about as part of a student dining survey wanting to bring the chain to campus.
Designed by alumna and la Madeleine director of design Carol Kamenish, the University of Kentucky's café — a partnership with UK Dining — reflects the classic la Madeleine "home away from home," modern French bistro atmosphere with wood floors, hearth fireplaces, rustic beams, and several unique dining rooms. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The décor at Le Madeleine strives to provide a warm, home away from home ambiance.La Madeleine has more than 75 cafés across Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia.
