Mexican food QSR chain Taco John's announced plans to open up to 15 stores in the Indianapolis area.

The chain is partnering with franchisee Michael House, a real estate developer and operator of two BoomBozz Craft Pizza and Taphouse restaurants. The agreement calls for House to open five stores with an option for 10 more. These will be the first Taco John's locations in the Indianapolis area.

"There is an opening in the market for this type of industry. There's a plethora of guys doing burgers, but in the taco business — where we are in Indianapolis — you only have one main player," said House.

Founded in 1969, Taco John's currently has 380 restaurants in 27 states.
