Delivery Trend Data Shows Popular Dishes Vary by Region

Poke was the hottest item to have delivered in 2017 overall and it is forecasted to stay popular well into 2018. But San Franciscans love buttermilk chicken and New Yorkers can’t get enough ramen.

 

At least according to Grubhub’s second annual Year in Delivery trend report that identifies the most popular dishes with its customers overall and by region.

The Most Popular Dishes by City in 2017:
Order data was compared from 2017 to order data from 2015 and 2016 collectively — in comparison to the rest of the country. The listed statistic is the percentage growth in 2017 in comparison to previous years.

  • Atlanta: Buttermilk pancakes — up 234 percent
  • Austin, Texas: Chicken fajitas — up 416 percent
  • Boston: Butter naan — up 362 percent
  • Chicago: Chicken taquitos — up 373 percent
  • Cleveland: Loaded fries — up 350 percent
  • Dallas: Beef burger — up 325 percent
  • Denver: Tonkotsu ramen — up 152 percent
  • Detroit: Lettuce chicken wraps — up 340 percent
  • Houston: Beef fajitas — up 289 percent
  • Kansas City, Mo.: Mac and cheese — up 447 percent
  • Las Vegas: Tuna sandwich — up 203 percent
  • Los Angeles: Poke — up 260 percent
  • Miami: Sweet plantains — up 418 percent
  • New York: Spicy miso ramen — up 331 percent
  • Philadelphia: Sweet potato tots — up 308 percent
  • Phoenix: Philadelphia roll — up 403 percent
  • Portland, Ore.: Grilled steak burrito — up 397 percent
  • St. Louis: Steak tacos — up 316 percent
  • San Diego: Shrimp taco — up 218 percent
  • San Francisco: Buttermilk fried chicken — up 136 percent
  • Seattle: Bacon cheeseburgers — up 344 percent
  • Washington: Pho — up 143 percent
