A note from our publisher.

Welcome to rd+d’s 2017 Product Guide. This broad overview of selected products will make designing and planning a new restaurant, or renovating an existing space, an even more intriguing prospect in 2018.

I would like to personally welcome the 3,813 members of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) who self-selected hospitality design as their special interest and join our audience for the first time. As part of a larger cooperative effort with IIDA, those professionals with this special interest receive a complimentary annual subscription to rd+d as an additional benefit of belonging to the association. We are thrilled to have you join our ranks.

Good design and good results go hand in hand in today’s rapidly evolving restaurant industry. From attracting new customers to maximizing labor efficiency and layering in technology, restaurant design can no longer be treated as an afterthought or nice to have. It has become mission critical to a successful operation.

With that in mind, mark your calendars for the second FED Global Thought Leadership Summit, which will take place September 10-12, 2018, at Chicago’s Radisson Blu hotel.

FED, which stands for Foodservice Equipment Design, borrows unabashedly from TED Talks. It weaves together two overlapping but distinct audiences from our sister magazines, Foodservice Equipment & Supplies and restaurant development + design, to offer a unique, thought-provoking and fun networking event.

Speakers give 15- to 17-minute presentations that cut right to the chase. Some of the restaurant industry’s brightest minds provide their best ideas to a select group of attendees in a time-bound format.

The results are pretty special. Don’t just take my word: Visit FEDthoughtleadership.com to hear some of the impressive testimonials from your peers who attended the inaugural event.
